Sometimes two different carpets are specified for a field and a border. The heights of these two products may not neccessarily be the same. If that is the case, the client may want the heights to be the same. In order to accomplish this task, there are a couple choices. One choice is to glue VCT tile underneath the product that is lower than the other to raise the height up. The VCT can then be ramped down from the 1/8 height to nothing using a portland based patching compound such as Ardex featherfinish. Another option may be to use Johnsonite levelers. This vinyl product will take a height variance and ramp it down to nothing. The beauty of this product is that you can cut it to the height you need to correct and there is no down time waiting for patching compounds to dry.
